Make Your Canvas Photo Prints As Good As They Can Be by Albelli
If you want to show off your very favourite photos to the very best effect, and turn a small personal picture into a large scale dramatic statement, then a canvas print is far and away the best means of doing so.
Ordering a canvas photo print is simplicity itself, since the actual process is based on three simple steps, but there are still a few tips that you can follow to ensure that the final product is everything it possibly can be.
Choose your photo carefully – not all photos are suitable for being turned into large prints. Blurred or badly taken photos won’t be as effective as those which are crisp and clear.
Select the frame shape and size – the shape you choose for your canvas photo prints will depend upon the shape and composition of the image itself. Small, intimate photos might be better reproduced as a small square canvas’s, whilst spectacular shots of favourite landscapes will have the impact necessary to fill a large landscape canvas as big as 120×80cm.
Large family groups are best presented on larger portrait canvases, whilst smaller groups, particularly if standing, look particularly good on a portrait style canvas.
Photos on canvas printed using the ‘wrap around’ technique. What this means is that the image is printed to the very edge of the canvas, some of which is then stretched around and behind the wooden frames. The effect of this is stunning, resulting in prints which look exactly like the kind of prints you’ll see hanging in professional galleries and art shops. From the point of view of somebody choosing a photo to use, however, this means that you should be extra careful. Images which fill the frame completely will find their far edges wrapped around and behind the frame and thus hidden from view. When choosing a photo to use, make sure that it has a natural ‘margin’, an area around the outside of the photo which doesn’t feature anything particularly important. Our online tool allows you to see exactly what the photo will look like when reproduced on canvas, allowing you to make precisely the right choice.
Decide whether you want to have your canvas photo print in full colour, black and white or sepia. Black and white prints are suitable for dramatic, high contrast images, or those which aim to capture a perhaps slightly more melancholy atmosphere, whilst sepia tones can conjure up feelings of years gone by.
The size of your print should be dependent on two things. The first, and most obvious, is the space in which you wish to hang it. It’s up to you whether you want a print which dominates the room in which it hangs or one which compliments existing artwork – bear this in mind when ordering your print.
It may sound like a lot to think about, but our software makes choosing the perfect canvas print seem like second nature, from the moment you log on, until the moment you hang it on your wall.
