Choosing Color Business Cards over Black and White   by Jenny Davis

Business cards are a business’s way of handing out advertising on a one on one basis. They are the most powerful form of advertising your company can have and should reflect your company’s exciting and colorful business abilities. This is one reason many companies are turning to color business cards instead of dull, ordinary, black and white cards. Your business cards should tell the recipient that your business keeps up with the times with new and innovative techniques and styles. This is what a color business card will tell your clients. First impressions play a huge role in your businesses reputation.

We live in a colorful world and adding color to your business cards is one way of the showing creativity that your company stands for. It is important to keep in mind that although color cards make a great first impression and speaks volumes for your company, too many colors can make your color business cards look as though they were printed haphazardly. This is not the impression you want to give clients and potential clients. You want your color business cards to show creativity, excitement and variety.

The Cost of Color Business Cards

We expect to get what we pay for therefore getting the best will undoubtedly cost a little more than getting simply good products. Of course your color business cards will cost slightly more than black and white cards, but you must give your customers what they want. The cost of color business cards is about 25% more than black and white business cards. This is due to the delicate work involved in printing the color cards. While printing, they must be overseen at all times to ensure there are no streaking, white lines where color should be and to ensure the proper colors are being printed. There is much more work involved in printing color business cards, therefore a printer must charge slightly more for these obvious reasons. Even a business on a budget can afford color business cards.

Choosing a Color

When you are choosing your color business cards, you must consider the type of business you represent. For example, an event planning business would want bright colors to display their fun nature in planning your event. A less colorful color such as a red or blue would be appropriate for a banking professional or other executive. Corporate colors may be appropriate if you are a member of a well known corporation such as a large shipping company. A photographer who specializes in old style photos such as tintype photos could choose a sepia or tan color. Your color business card should make your client feel as though they chose the right professional for the job they want performed. In addition to the color, you may want to choose a UV protection that would make your colors even richer and brighter plus protect them from fading or yellowing with age. It also increases the thickness of your business cards from the normal 14 – 15 point thickness.
